MODULE 10 - MISCELLANEOUS STRATEGIES

Calling is definitely my primary, go-to strategy for hunting elk, but I am fully aware that it doesn’t always work. Even during the peak of the rut when the elk are calling like crazy, calling isn’t always the best – or only – way to get close to the elk. Once the rut is over, calling becomes very ineffective. If you truly want to have the best chance of killing an elk, you have to be versatile, and you have to be prepared to adjust your tactics, sometimes from day to day.

In this Module, I’ll take a look at a few tactics to add into your calling sequences to increase the chances of getting close to the elk. I’ll also talk about some options that work when calling doesn’t. This Module will be split into two chapters: Supplements to Calling and Leave the Calls at Home.
